Summer up here in the North can be short, but intense. Sometimes we only have 90 days without frost so you cross your fingers when you plant, and hope that the winter isn’t too harsh for the perennials.
We have two wonderful clematis plants that frame our front door – we don’t use the door – and a planter that we fill with annual petunias.
This year the clematis are stupendous!!
The photo doesn’t do justice to the colour as they are a deep, lush, velvety dark purple.
When mom came home from the hospital last year my youngest uncle brought her a potted lily. We couldn’t keep it in the house due to allergies so I immediately planted it outside. I really wasn’t expecting it to survive our -45C winter. But… have a look at this!
Mom made me take photos and send them to my uncle.
